ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday afternoon, a 65-year-old worker at Waukesha Iron and Metal on East Main Street died when he fell from a junked car being picked up (OSHA has opened an investigation into the incident) and the company said it is fully cooperating.  The Waukesha Freeman

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jay Ramos-Rivera, an 11-year-old dancer from Waukesha, performed alongside Bad Bunny at Levi's Stadium during the Super Bowl halftime show and will compete later this month at Artistic Edge Dance Centre in Hartland.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Waukesha residents face dramatic increases in their WE Energies bills — some reporting over $300 more than usual due to a recent rate hike and colder weather, prompting households to adjust budgets for rising energy costs.  TMJ-4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Incumbent Hamilton School Board member Tom Lodzinski faces challengers Tom Seiler and Cassie Hoehnen in a primary election on Feb. 17. Seiler emphasized strong fiscal management while Hoehnen called for more transparency and mental health support.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • At the school board meeting on Saturday, a board member shared superintendent evaluation materials online and urged residents to give feedback while others defended Superintendent Jim Sebert and confirmed the 'Optimizing Our Future' consolidation plan, which will include fall 2026 school closures, remains on track + details will be updated.  The Waukesha Freeman

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • County officials expect the County Board to approve an offer to purchase the 76-acre (former UWM) campus on March 24 as negotiations with a potential developer progress.
