  • Waukesha County Fair organizers invite community members to nominate a volunteer for the 2026 Honorary Fair Marshal award until March 20—recognizing long-term service through leadership, volunteer work, or behind-the-scenes support at the fair.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Waukesha County Fair officials invite community members to nominate someone for the 2026 Honorary Fair Marshal award (highlighting long-standing dedication to the fair) with nominations submitted online by March 20. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kinex Medical Company will pay nearly $7 million to settle allegations that it falsely billed Medicare+TRICARE and other federal programs from 2019 to 2024, according to federal authorities. The company does not admit liability and has agreed to a Corporate Integrity Agreement with HHS to improve compliance.  The Waukesha Freeman

CULTURE NEWS

  • Director John Cramer of the Oconomowoc Arts Center said live shows provide unmatched experiences for local audiences and he is planning a season that includes 'Damn Tall Buildings' in April and Luca Stricagnoli in May. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pewaukee Area Arts Council is awarding four $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to major in the arts. Applications are due by April 10, winners will be announced on April 24, and awards will be presented at 6 p.m. May 4 at the Pewaukee Public Library (Visaya Room).  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Marcus Corporation’s proposed development at Pabst Farms was given in-principle approval by the Oconomowoc Plan Commission at a Wednesday meeting but needs layout tweaks before an April review. A public hearing for amendment feedback is scheduled for March 17.  The Waukesha Freeman

HEALTH NEWS

  • Britney Baertschy, a local dental hygienist, is competing in the Ms. Health & Fitness contest this week to win $20,000 and boost the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation while setting a strong example for her daughter, Mila (5).  The Waukesha Freeman

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The Whisker Society will open its downtown Oconomowoc cat lounge for adoptable cats by reservation in April, with a café arriving in May or June. The venue will serve coffee and host events (such as cat yoga) in the future.  The Waukesha Freeman
