- ➤ Holocaust survivor, author and civil rights attorney Thomas Jacobson will speak at the Chabad Jewish Center of Brookfield at 6 p.m. today, sharing his life story — from his escape on the MS St. Louis to his work in civil rights. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 1,000 middle and high school students learned about health care careers at the Discover Health Care Expo on March 3 at Waukesha County Technical College (including hands-on CPR practice and X-ray readings). The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Cassie Hoehnen and Tom Seiler are competing for an at-large seat on the Hamilton School Board ahead of the April 7 vote. They will present plans to address declining enrollment, budget pressures, and improve communication with families. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Persuasive letters from Horizon Elementary third-graders led author David A. Kelly to write two Brewers-themed mystery books and visit the school, where over 600 students enjoyed a book signing on Feb. 19. - ➤ With three other school districts already testing student-athletes, Waukesha School District is considering random drug testing for student-athletes and activity participants after School Board Clerk David Wadd requested the measure on the agenda, and the district will review the proposal (pending community input) at its upcoming meeting.
