COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Waukesha County plow companies and salt suppliers are stocking up ahead of the approaching winter storm; Mike Anderson of Green Hills Supply and Morgan Ferrari of All Season Facility Maintenance report increased demand as municipalities and contractors secure additives to melt ice faster.  TMJ-4
  • A new playground is planned at Greenway Terrace Park — off Greenway Terrace and Atlantic and Cardinal drives — and residents can send feedback by email by 4:30 p.m. March 23. A virtual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 24 to help shape the project.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace and Education for Peace will present 2025 Peacebuilder Awards to the Service Club and Jonathan T. Ward at its spring fundraiser on Main Street. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A chemical mix in the mechanical building of Aurora Medical Center triggered a hazardous materials response by Western Lakes Fire District at 4:53 p.m. on Wednesday in Summit; responders sealed the connecting tunnel to protect the main hospital and patients.  The Waukesha Freeman

BUSINESS NEWS

  • High winds knocked out power to more than 27,000 customers in Waukesha County on Friday, forcing Plaza Garibaldi in Pewaukee (a popular restaurant) to close temporarily and risk losing fresh produce and drinks (a disruption during a busy service) until Energies crews restored power by late afternoon.  TMJ-4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The school board approved the $2.5 million sale of the soon-to-be former Hawthorne Elementary property to Adeline Montessori School at Wednesday’s meeting — the vote was 8-1 after a closed session discussion on surplus property policies. The board also updated on long-range planning for school closures and enrollment changes.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Waukesha County Parks is hiring for seasonal positions in park maintenance, ranger services, and other roles across the county. These opportunities offer hands-on outdoor work (job details are available through county listings).  The Waukesha Freeman

  • TMJ4 reported that The Blue Heron Supper Club in Big Bend offers a classic fish fry featuring family-style servings of crispy fried fish, baked fish, fries, and coleslaw (available on Wednesdays and Fridays) along with a traditional Wisconsin Old Fashioned.  TMJ-4
