EDUCATION NEWS

  • Adeline Montessori School will move from its Oconomowoc site to the soon-to-be former Hawthorne Elementary School in Waukesha after closing on July 1 (this move will let the growing school add a bilingual primary classroom and more space for students) and classes start in August.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Five candidates are vying for three seats on the Waukesha School Board in an April 7 election that will bring new representation with incumbent David Wadd not seeking reelection. Ethics complaints (including concerns over Carrillo’s candidacy) and campaign controversies emerged as voters assess enrollment and budgeting issues.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Students at Summit View Elementary practiced coding, art, and story time indoors recently as they tuned their creative muscles while waiting for warmer weather. The school offers hands-on classes that build practical learning skills.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Hartland-Lakeside School District raised its voluntary bus fee from ($110 to $830) for students living two miles or closer unless a hazard prevents walking; parents were shocked by the 650% increase and say the change may affect their daily routines.  TMJ-4
  • Morgan Henning — the incumbent school board member — and challenger Kristopher "Kpher" Evans are competing for the Hartland-Lakeside Joint No. 3 seat, and they outlined plans for academic focus, safety, and fiscal responsibility ahead of the April 7 election in Hartland.  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colin Chance and Katie Bergmann advanced for an open seat on the Swallow School Board after the Feb. 17 primary and will face each other on April 7.
