COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families can attend the Boots & Badges charity basketball game on Friday, Apr. 10 at 7 p.m. at Waukesha South High School (401 E. Roberta Ave), where police and fire teams will face a combined New Berlin and Brookfield squad to support local charities with raffles and food donations.  The Waukesha Freeman

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A garage fire broke out at 3110 Rolling Ridge Drive at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, and fire crews quickly controlled the blaze while damage was limited to one vehicle and garage contents, with no injuries reported and residents re-occupying their home as the cause remains under investigation.  The Waukesha Freeman

CULTURE NEWS

  • Indian Summer Festival Inc. is hosting a Spring Powwow and Native Art Market at the Waukesha County Exposition Center Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering traditional performances, indigenous foods, and handmade art with admission starting at $15 for adults.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters in Lake Country School District will vote on an April 7 referendum aimed to raise $800,000 a year for four years to support school operations. District leaders warn that without it the district could close and reassign students (attending neighboring districts).  TMJ-4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In Q4 2025, Lac La Belle homeowners paid a property tax rate of 3.4% on home values—over three times the national average—and median sales reached $476,300. BlockShopper.com data show this rate is among the highest in the region.  Waukesha Times
  • Tom Nettesheim, a longtime public servant who served as Pewaukee’s first police chief and on several city boards, died on March 14 at age 93—his legacy lives on in the park that bears his name. Friends and family remember him as a joyful, steady presence in public service.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • At 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, the Plan Commission will review two proposals: one for a 12.2-acre hobby farm that will offer community events like U-pick flowers and live music, and another from mayoral candidate Aaron Werner to turn a 900 sqft structure into a design-build office.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Okauchee Lake homeowners paid 1% in property taxes in Q4 2025, exceeding the national rate from 2024 by more than 1.2 times (BlockShopper.com). The median home sold for $491,000, marking a notable higher local tax burden compared to nearby areas.  Waukesha Times
  • In Q4 2025, Nashotah homeowners paid 0.6% of their home’s value in taxes — below the national average — with a median sales price of $748,500 based on 15 sales, according to BlockShopper.com.  Waukesha Times

  • Arrowhead alum Mitchell Mesenbrink won his second NCAA wrestling title on March 21 in Cleveland with a 20-4 technical fall over Mikey Caliendo. He improved his record to 80-1 and remains a top contender for the Hodge Trophy.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Arrowhead alumna Campbell Stoll won the NCAA Division I championship in the 200-yard butterfly at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta on March 21.
