COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local resident Kelli Villis said today that Big Bend Road—running from Highway 18 to Interstate 43 and lacking sidewalks—has become unsafe for pedestrians after she experienced several close calls with speeding cars while walking her dogs. She contacted the sheriff's office, which noted that pedestrians must walk facing traffic and do not have the right-of-way, and Villis hopes officials will take action to improve safety.  TMJ-4

  • On Monday, March 31, a woman from a Menomonee Falls memory care center detailed how she was attacked at work in February after defendant Tyana Stanton allegedly called her cousin to assault her coworker following a demotion—both Stanton and her cousin pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to return to court on April 23.  FOX6

  • Today, voters go to the polls to decide on over 80 school district referendums asking for hundreds of millions of dollars for school improvements. Racine Unified seeks $190 million to keep staffing levels steady, Arrowhead School District in Waukesha requests $136 million to expand its north campus, and Sheboygan Falls plans for $70 million to update its facilities.  FOX6

HEALTH NEWS

  • Andrea Weisman, a Waukesha woman who survived a near-fatal car accident, donated her kidney to a stranger after a match for her friend fell through—her donation went to a retired school principal and serves as a call to action during Donate Life month.
