CRIME NEWS

  • On Thursday night, a woman who was trafficked in Milwaukee told her story at St. Paul's Church in Lake Mills to help locals recognize trafficking risks while law enforcement and community groups warned that social media and tourism may increase vulnerability.  CBS58
  • A 28-year-old Milwaukee man, Arthur Clements (facing charges for fleeing officer and recklessly endangering safety), allegedly fled police on March 24 in Menomonee Falls when his white sedan with a woman and two children sped over 100 mph and later crashed on Silver Spring Drive (with one passenger suffering a head injury and the children taken to Children's Hospital); he made an initial court appearance on March 26 with a $50,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 14.  FOX6
  • Keon Hawthorne, a 27-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody on March 11th at 11:30 a.m. after he pulled a firearm during an argument at Target Distribution Center in Oconomowoc on Jan 26th—he now faces charges including attempted first-degree intentional homicide.  FOX6
  • Two out-of-state women were accused of stealing 160 items worth $4,549 from Ulta Beauty in Menomonee Falls on July 17, a police statement said—authorities charged them with felony retail theft and issued warrants while they remain at large.  FOX6
  • A 20-year veteran of the New Berlin Police Department, Sgt. Steven Dodson, was charged with felony misconduct for allegedly stealing drugs used in the K9 training program—he also faced additional charges for suspected drunken driving and possessing a loaded firearm while intoxicated following an 11-month investigation.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Waukesha County will begin work on Monday, April 7 to repair the westbound County Trunk Highway VV bridge over the Menomonee River with deck replacement and structure fixes—drivers will use detours and face slower speeds until early fall.  FOX6

HEALTH NEWS

  • A New Berlin boy underwent a routine tonsillectomy on March 17 and went into a coma three days later in the pediatric ICU—his family said he now must learn to eat, walk, and talk while doctors plan a second surgery to remove a blood clot from his carotid artery.  TMJ-4

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Brewers' pitcher Nestor Cortes rebounded from a rough outing as he allowed one hit in six innings and struck out six to lead his team to a 1-0 win over the Reds on Thursday. The Reds lost for the third straight game—making them the first MLB team to suffer three consecutive 1-0 losses since the Phillies in May 1960.  CBS58
