- ➤ On March 24, a Milwaukee mom was driving with her two children on I-94 near the Brookfield exit when a driver—facing his fourth OWI charge and showing signs of PCP and marijuana use—struck her car, causing her injuries while her children were unharmed and the driver fled before being arrested in a nearby restaurant parking lot. - ➤ Darrell Brooks Jr. chose to represent himself in his appeal against his 76-count conviction tied to the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy—Judge Jennifer Dorow granted his pro se request Friday after his court-appointed attorney Michael Covey withdrew— and he remains in a South Dakota prison serving six consecutive life terms plus 762 years. - ➤ Waukesha police charged 21-year-old Abdoulah Barry and 21-year-old Natnael Berhanu, noncitizens from Ethiopia, with theft and identity theft after they stole wallets, credit cards, cash and car keys from the YMCA in Oconomowha and repeated the scheme at facilities in Greenfield and Sun Prairie—authorities noted one man had been arrested in Michigan and both are wanted in Arizona, Indiana and Georgia—making it part of a multi-state theft ring.
