  • The Journal Sentinel suburbs team finished a study on sidewalks that looked at both benefits and challenges while comparing sidewalk mileage and density.   • The Green Bay Packers visited Friends With Food in Waukesha on Wednesday during their Tailgate Tour from April 8-12—players, alumni and volunteers helped hand out food and speak with pantry guests to support the community pantry.  TMJ-4

  • Three new businesses have opened this spring in Waukesha County. Voodoo Brewing now serves craft beer and local fare in Delafield, Glass Nickel Pizza offers 25 specialty pizzas along Sunset Drive in Waukesha, and The Westerly senior living community opened 140 apartments near Pewaukee shops.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

CRIME NEWS

  • Nikita Casap was bound over for trial—he faces charges for the deaths of his mother and stepfather in the Village of Waukesha and will enter pleas on May 7.  FOX6
  • A 42-year-old Milwaukee man with a record of burglary is suspected in a Whitefish Bay burglary and at least three others in Waukesha County after he parked his mother's car at Klode Park on April 2 and later returned with a bag of jewelry, electronics, and cash (he is on community supervision and out on bond in open cases in Ozaukee and Milwaukee counties).  FOX6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • John Poulos requested a recount of the Hartland-Lakeside School Board election after an April 1 vote showed him trailing by 10 votes from another candidate. The board of canvassers will meet at 9 a.m. today at North Shore Middle School to review ballots from Delafield, Merton and Hartland.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers heard testimony on April 9 from victims of unlicensed drivers — a father whose six-year-old was hit at a bus stop and a parade participant recalled a 2021 accident pressed for tougher penalties. Rep. David Maxey proposed raising fines for drivers and car owners from $100 to $1,000, though some lawmakers questioned if the fines would be fair.  CBS58
