EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 8, the Arrowhead School Board voted not to renew four teacher contracts at South Campus due to declining enrollment and budget shortfalls (community members voiced strong opposition at a packed meeting). Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- ➤ Waukesha School Board race saw incumbents Koenig and Voit reelected along with newcomer Gallagher Tuesday night (vote totals: 17.7%, 17.6%, and 17.1%). Results remain unofficial pending canvassing. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Residents approved an operational referendum on April 7 that adds $800,000 per year for four years to support school programs – the district will begin using the funds in the 2026–27 school year to maintain quality education and delay consolidation plans. The Waukesha Freeman
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Tony Evers signed a law legalizing online sports betting on Thursday and the provisions will take effect after the state completes negotiations with 11 tribes to set up computer servers on tribal lands.
