COMMUNITY NEWS

  • American Legion Post 91 raised over $3,000 for local student Paul Alcazar who received radiation treatment to remove a tumor. The freshman, an Oconomowoc High School graduate (also logo designer for the 2024 Festival of the Arts), is recovering as treatment continues.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Arrowhead High School senior Addison Johnson from Hartland earned a $1,000 scholarship from the American Red Cross after hosting a blood drive at Hartland Public Library on Dec. 26 that collected 27 donations. She plans to pursue a pharmacy career and organize more drives.  The Waukesha Freeman

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After a fatal March 25 rear-end crash killed a 10-year-old at Highway 67 and McMahon Road, Rep. Barb Dittrich, Lac La Belle Police Chief Kristen Wraalstad and Western Lakes Fire District Chief Brad Bowen met Monday morning with six Wisconsin DOT officials to plan fixes like speed limits and roundabouts.  The Waukesha Freeman

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lemberg Electric Company promoted Leo Buser to chief financial officer in Brookfield. Buser, who joined as controller in 2023, has guided the firm's ESOP (culture) and financial planning.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • INNIO Group of Waukesha entered a three-year framework agreement with Rehlko + securing 700 MW of engine capacity for growing data center and grid-stabilization projects; Clarke Energy will deliver the projects with long-term service solutions.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arrowhead High School issued nonrenewal notices for four teachers as part of a plan to cut costs amid a $1 million budget gap caused by declining enrollment. The district estimates the move will save about $840,000, with three additional teachers planning to resign after the school year (per district data).  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Marcus Corp. proposed a revised layout for a theater and five outlots in Oconomowoc’s Pabst Farms Town Centre, aiming to improve traffic flow and visibility. The proposal will be discussed at a public hearing and Common Council meeting on April 21 at 7:30 p.m.—approval could lead to development steps.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Town of Brookfield approved a use request for the West End project near The Corners of Brookfield on Wednesday. The project (38,000 sqft retail and 277 apartments) is planned along North Barker Road and West Bluemound Road, with groundbreaking scheduled later this year and a grand opening in early 2028.  The Waukesha Freeman
