  • A storm struck Giant Springs Farm on Good Hope Road, lifting a shelter off pet cow Penny’s stall and damaging the arena roof and shop while the Woods family confirmed all animals are safe—cleanup has begun with repair efforts planned as rain is forecast.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • This weekend, New Berlin Public Library hosts a book and puzzle sale (members welcome with a donation) Friday and a Rummage-A-Rama with Divine Consign sale at the Expo Center. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rain today caused flooding that led to temporary road closures in parts of the county (including Barker Rd and Hackberry Lane), and officials urge drivers to avoid standing water.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • A tornado with (120-mph) winds hit Lisbon Tuesday night, damaging the historic Presbyterian church and nearby homes. Cleanup is underway and Sunday services will be held jointly with a local Lutheran congregation as volunteers work to clear debris and repair property.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • A man died after being struck by lightning in a parking lot Wednesday during severe storms, and meteorologists warn that heavy rain, flooding, and potential tornadoes will continue today.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • The Ponds of Brookfield announced its first major expansion in 28 years, adding a 5,200 sqft locker room and modern seating to improve facilities for youth hockey teams (including Brookfield Glacier, Brookfield Stars, and Wisconsin Windigo).
