EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Waukesha North High School alumna and author Kathie Giorgio asked to have her name removed from the school’s Wall of Stars after the district banned the donation of her books from its libraries. Giorgio said the decision was confusing because many of her books feature high school-age protagonists—criteria she believes fit the school library’s focus on a core curriculum. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- ➤ The School District of Waukesha launched a long-range planning process called Optimizing Our Future to address a drop of roughly 3,000 students since 2012 by holding public sessions in spring 2025, where families, staff and community members can review data from its 23 facilities + share ideas. District leaders plan to reduce capacity by 10% to 15%, which may lead to closing or repurposing schools + any approved changes will take effect no sooner than fall. TMJ-4
