- ➤ Today, former county clerk Meg Wartman is honored with a celebration of life from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Brookfield where food and drinks will be served and guests are asked to wear colorful casual attire, and a memorial scholarship fund nears its goal. - ➤ On May 4, Dawn Lewis and her son David opened Ence at 204 Wisconsin Ave to support Waukesha's special needs community with workshops and help with services. They hosted a game night on Friday and a scavenger hunt on Saturday and will hold a role-playing game night on May 22. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ Oscar’s Frozen Custard and Sandwiches will reopen next week in Brookfield — its new building replaces the one that burned down at 21165 E. Moreland Blvd and the exact reopening time has not yet been announced. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ The Social will transform the former Olympia Ski Hill and Chalet in Oconomowoc into an entertainment center with indoor pickleball, arcade games, and dining. The $23 million project is set to open in January 2027 with hill attractions in spring & will serve families and adults. The Waukesha Freeman
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Kettle Moraine School Board will review three options for the 'Captain Laser' mascot on Tuesday, including a refreshed costume, a futuristic version, or a cat mascot favored by 61 percent of students. The change will fix safety issues and meet cheer team needs while considering alumni and staff feedback. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ The Western Lakes Fire District Fire Board will hold a meeting Monday at 4 p.m. at Station No. 1 (1400 Oconomowoc Parkway) to review a facility needs assessment and impact fee study as local growth prompts ongoing evaluations. The Waukesha Freeman
