- ➤ Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Oconomowoc will close its location at 121 S. Cross St. on June 30 as part of a plan to consolidate six locations into five, with prearranged services honored at the remaining sites — the company is also considering a downtown office for future planning. - ➤ A former teacher rang the historic bell at Bethesda Elementary on May 14 to honor a generations-old tradition before the school closes permanently after this school year. FOX6
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Kettle Moraine School Board voted to redesign the Captain Laser mascot into a saber-toothed tiger (a nod to local glacier history) to improve student comfort and mobility, with plans to potentially unveil it at upcoming homecoming festivities. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Lowell Elementary will offer expanded afterschool programming next school year after the Department of Public Instruction approved transferring a community learning center grant from the closing Hawthorne to Lowell.
