  • The Waukesha County Business Alliance released the 2025 business survey findings that show how local companies are feeling about the economy—gathering responses from businesses in 35 of 37 county municipalities. The survey was done with Carroll University, the Waukesha County Center for Growth, and WOW Works and gives a clear look at business trends in our area.  Waukesha Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Waukesha Board of Education received an update on its plan to cut capacity in K—8 schools by 10—15% to match enrollment trends; officials praised the public sessions that used a QR code to collect 100 questions. One parent during comments said he is not excited about the plan and suggested that growing the community by having more kids could be a solution.  The Waukesha Freeman

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Eagle residents are checking for damage after a severe storm dropped hail the size of a racketball on homes, causing holes in roofs, cars, and outdoor structures—damage that many say is the worst they have seen. Local contractors advise filing insurance claims promptly and verifying repair services to avoid scams.  TMJ-4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Waukesha County Board is seeking applicants for the vacant District 3 seat following the death of longtime supervisor Richard Morris in April. Residents of District 3 must submit a letter of interest by June 6 — candidates will be interviewed on the morning of June 16 — to serve the remainder of Morris’s term until April.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • At a recent Genesee Town Board meeting, officials honored longtime chairwoman Sharon Leair with a proclamation and key as she retired after 44 years on the board, including 32 years as chairman. Leair helped build a new town hall, preserve historic sites, and change local zoning rules, and she said she will stay involved by attending future town meetings—her decades of service guided many local projects.  The Waukesha Freeman

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • AAA predicts that about 839,000 residents will travel more than 50 miles from home for the five-day Memorial Day weekend from Thursday through Monday and that is 23,000 more than last year; most travelers will drive with 751,600 leaving by automobile while over 43,000 will fly or use other transport.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Miller Marriott Construction Co. has proposed a conceptual plan for a subdivision with fifteen single family homes at 2250 Lynette Lane on the former Hillside school property, designed to include dedicated green space linking directly to Canterbury Park. A neighborhood meeting is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. on May 28 at the City Safety Building Court Room—residents will meet the developers and ask questions about lot sizes and project details.  The Waukesha Freeman
