GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Village Board will review bidding documents for the DPW building update and fire station remodel at 6:30 p.m. as they check that both projects work together—ensuring the necessary site plans are in place—while also discussing a food truck ordinance.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Eight state representatives from Waukesha County support a budget amendment filed on (May 20) to add 10 new assistant district attorney positions as the DA’s office struggles with staffing shortages and rising caseloads. The proposal will be reviewed by the Joint Finance Committee as part of the state budget process for the fiscal year beginning (July 1) and is aimed at easing the pressure on the local justice system.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Menomonee Falls residents expressed concern after the Village Board voted on Monday to move $300,000 from the library’s 2026 budget to help the police department hire new officers and recruit staff — a decision that has also prompted criticism over the library board’s change to remove the Library Bill of Rights from its policy.  TMJ-4

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Robert and Lisa Salb, owners of the historic Blair House on Madison Street, filed a lawsuit last November to challenge the city’s approval of Mandel Group’s proposed four story, 219 unit apartment complex on Delafield Street that may block their view—claiming the move violates local ordinances and former Mayor Henry Blair’s will.  The Waukesha Freeman
