- ➤ The Rotary Club partnered with Lad Lake to revitalize the gardens at the Dousman campus (funded by Rotary District 6270) through the Gardens of Growth project; youths planted new flowers and vegetable gardens to create welcoming, healing spaces near the Glacial Drumlin Trail. - ➤ Delafield’s Candee Arndt was honored with the Armed Services Award on May 11 at the annual Armed Forces Dinner for over 15 years of volunteer work, including commissioning local naval ships and supporting military organizations such as the Milwaukee War Memorial Center (she continues to support veterans). - ➤ Memorial Day events honor veterans midweek in Waukesha County with ceremonies at Brookfield's Historic Oak Hill Cemetery, a parade in Elm Grove, and celebrations in Delafield, Muskego, Oconomowoc, and Pewaukee (some with live music and food trucks) as residents join local observances. - ➤ Jurassic Journey, the Midwest's largest animatronic dinosaur collection, has been extended at the Waukesha County Expo Center and will run until May 31 due to high demand. The exhibit opened May 8 with over 60 life-size dinosaurs including the World’s Largest T-Rex and operates Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Waukesha Freeman
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Rising fuel prices in the area, with gas averaging $4.66 a gallon (a 54% jump from last year), are changing driving habits as residents cut non-essential trips to save money. County officials are monitoring the impact closely. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ Carroll University will award four credits for LEA190 to Girl Scouts who earned the Gold Award starting in fall 2026 through a new partnership with Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. - ➤ Community Smiles Dental will move its services to the WCTC downtown campus from June 1 to Aug. 1 during an 18-year renovation that upgrades equipment and improves layout. Existing patient appointments will continue as scheduled. The Waukesha Freeman
