GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DNR advised visitors to state parks and public lands this Memorial Day weekend to purchase vehicle passes online to avoid long lines—pass prices are $28 for Wisconsin plates, $38 for out-of-state plates and $13 for seniors. • The Elmbrook School Board’s email vote in a 2020 appointment may cost its leaders over $13,000 in fines and attorney fees after an appeals court found the process violated open meeting law — attorney Brady Henderson requested a $300 fine for board president Scott Wheeler and a lesser fine for vice president Jean Lambert. The board will file a response before Judge Brad Schimel rules on the case following a 4+ year legal battle.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Waukesha officials will consider Las Cazuelas Mexican Taco’s request to move into the former cobbler building on West St. Paul Avenue (with a plan to re-stripe parking and adjust traffic flow) and Culver’s request to add a second drive-thru station at its busy Sunset Drive location. The Plan Commission will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in City Hall to discuss both projects.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow applauded state legislators for a budget amendment that will add 10 new positions at the DA’s Office in Waukesha County and 2.6 assistant positions in Washington County.
