ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Waukesha Metro bus and an SUV collided in Elm Grove on May 27 at Bluemound Road and Elm Grove Road, and four of eight bus passengers were evaluated at the scene with three taken to hospital while the bus was later driven and the SUV towed while traffic was diverted. FOX6
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pewaukee Area Arts Council will sell works by famed ceramic artist Greg Miller, who died on Dec. 22, to fund a scholarship in his name. The free event titled A Glass Act: A Tsunami of Color will be held on June 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Heartroots Studio on E. Capitol Drive in Hartland — it aims to honor his legacy. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Kettle Moraine School Board unveiled a guide on May 13 to help decide which elementary schools—Magee and Cushing—might be closed using clear, data-driven criteria. Facing a projected $7.6 million deficit by 2031, the board will hold a public meeting on June 11 to discuss the plan further. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Cheryl Milnes (66) was elected to the Elmbrook School Board in April and said that listening to others is key before trusting her own thoughts; she noted that the board will study school start times and update aging facilities to improve conditions for students and families. - ➤ Waukesha County Health and Human Services is offering a grant program to help residents pay for expensive vehicle modifications (including lifts for wheelchairs and scooters). - ➤ Rebekah Carsey, co-owner of White Stag 1894 on her family's 280-acre flower farm in Summit, restored barns and now seeks a zoning change to allow events like baby showers, weddings, and workshops. The Village of Summit formed a special use committee after a 2024 public hearing and will hold a public listening session at Village Hall this Thursday—residents are invited to share their input.
