ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Students on a school bus suffered minor injuries when a rear-end collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon along Les Paul/59/164/18 north of East Sunset Drive — police said preliminary reports indicate the bus driver was distracted by students goofing off as emergency crews, including the Waukesha Fire Department, responded to the incident.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Terex will expand operations in Pewaukee by adding 60,000 square feet of production space and creating 100 new jobs—an investment that will boost local manufacturing and support the economy.  The Waukesha Freeman

CRIME NEWS

  • A Muskego woman named Amber Sisk, 35, fled police on Friday by weaving through heavy traffic and speeding, which led her car to land in a Big Bend pond where officers fired less-lethal rounds and charged her with fleeing an officer, resisting or obstructing police, and THC possession—she was held on a $2,000 bail and will appear in court on June 19.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • A new phishing scam is targeting Wisconsin residents with fake text messages claiming to be from the DMV about unpaid traffic violations—officials said the DMV never sends texts about citations and urged recipients to delete such messages immediately.  TMJ-4
  • A jury convicted Jackson Vogel for killing his cellmate Micah Laureano at Green Bay Correctional Institution last year by strangling him—Vogel said he did so because Laureano was Black and gay—and he will face a mandatory life sentence when he is sentenced on June 27.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Waukesha is celebrating 110 years since Les Paul’s birth as the Les Paul Foundation plans events throughout the month — a free exhibit opens at the County Historical Society and Museum on June 7 to honor his legacy in music.  FOX6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Waukesha County is proposing to end commuter bus service linking Lake Country communities—Oconomowoc, Delafield, and Pewaukee—to downtown Milwaukee this fall due to an 81% drop in ridership and rising operational costs. A public hearing will be held at 9:15 a.m. on June 12 at the County Courthouse to gather community feedback on the proposed change.  The Waukesha Freeman
