COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ralph Zick retired as Hope Center Executive Director after 18 years of service to the community — he expanded programs and secured vital funding — and a celebration in his honor is scheduled for June 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hope Center, 101 W. Broadway.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • The Lac La Belle Village Board reversed its decision and allowed the Kappl family to launch Fourth of July fireworks from a barge about 500 feet from shore—residents had raised noise concerns about events at the Kappl property.  The Waukesha Freeman

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, a pedestrian who appeared to be intoxicated was struck by a westbound vehicle near Sunset Drive and Grand Avenue and taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries—Waukesha Police and accident reconstruction specialists are investigating the incident.  The Waukesha Freeman

CRIME NEWS

  • Waukesha police are investigating the theft of about 20 catalytic converters from buses (parked at First Student Inc. on Arcadian Ave.) discovered early June 5, which caused delays and route changes as officials worked to notify affected families.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Kellie Villalobos, a Muskego-Norway teacher and former treasurer of the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teachers, was charged on June 2 with felony theft of over $240,000 after an audit of the association’s accounts discovered unauthorized transactions (including purchases from Walmart and Expedia) and an arrest warrant was issued.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Police are investigating the theft of about 20 catalytic converters from a school bus company lot near Eugene and Arcadian — officials said the theft was discovered early Thursday morning and that bus routes were delayed while detectives seek any available witnesses.  TMJ-4

  • The Village Board approved rezoning of the former Meadow View Elementary School off Highway P for R-3 residential use in Lac La Belle, allowing 28 single-family lots—27 in front and one in back. Three Oaks Reserve, LLC, the buyer found by the Oconomowoc Area School District, will move forward with the subdivision plans.  The Waukesha Freeman
