- ➤ Friday afternoon, a fire broke out at the Maple Avenue Apartments near downtown Waukesha displacing residents in two units though no injuries were reported—firefighters quickly controlled the blaze and The Salvation Army provided temporary shelter while the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ An 18-year-old man from Milwaukee has been charged after he allegedly fired a gun at a FedEx facility in Menomonee Falls — the shooting occurred during an argument over not being able to punch in for work — and authorities are investigating the case. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ The Hamilton School District approved its 2025-26 Transportation and Site Improvement Plan after a fatal bus incident on Jan. 2 at Silver Spring Intermediate School led to a full review of transportation safety. The plan—developed with Dairyland Bus Company—includes improved traffic flow, pedestrian safety and enhanced supervision at all schools, with most projects expected to be finished by the start of the next school year.
