- ➤ Waukesha residents have long asked to take drinks outside during Friday Night Live and city officials are now considering a change to allow alcohol in a designated outdoor refreshment area. The Waukesha Downtown Business Association helped shape the plan, which a survey showed is supported by more than 87% of locals+ the council will vote on the change in two weeks. TMJ-4
- ➤ Hartland’s Hometown Celebration will run at Nixon Park from June 26 to June 29—this year the festival expands with an extra day, a full carnival offering rides and games, live music, fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on June 27 with a rain reschedule to June 28, and a parade at 1:30 p.m. on June 29. - ➤ Local restaurant Savory is planned to open in Delafield Village Square this fall and will serve globally inspired dishes along with Wisconsin classics. - ➤ A Milwaukee man pled guilty and was sentenced on Monday to serve three years in prison and probation after he rammed a police car and led officers on a chase outside a Kwik Trip in Butler on Oct. 12, 2023—video shows him sucking his thumb during the incident. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ Waukesha School District is asking local residents to share their ideas on building use and capacity as officials plan school changes—community input will help guide these important decisions. The Waukesha Freeman
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers met at the Capitol yesterday under heightened security after Minnesota shootings left a legislator and her husband dead and another injured. Visitors to the Senate gallery had to pass an extra check — the main building stayed open without metal detectors — as discussions on further security measures continued. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Today, the Waukesha Water Commission will submit an application to request a water rate increase—its move follows the Public Service Commission's approval on August 15, 2023. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ Waukesha assessment notices show residential property values increased 14% and commercial values jumped 39% as market sales drove the reassessments.
