- ➤ The Oconomowoc Area Senior Center hosts 800 seniors from across Waukesha County who join in games, crafts, and other activities — giving them a place to make friends and stay active. - ➤ Brookfield officials moved forward Tuesday with a funding plan for a public market at the north end of Brookfield Square Mall (the former Boston Store site). The new market, which may include a two-story glass-enclosed building with vendor stalls and outdoor seating, now awaits final council approval and a public hearing on Aug. 11. TMJ-4

- ➤ A Waukesha man, Adam Malinski, pleaded no contest on June 18 to three charges—reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed knife, and battery—after a street fight on Aug 26, 2024 that led to a stabbing; his sentencing is set for Aug 21. FOX6

- ➤ Autumn Hill Academy received a $1.2 million grant through the Wisconsin Charter Schools Program subgrant competition to open a new tuition-free public charter school at N25-W23050 Paul Road in Pewaukee this fall. - ➤ Oconomowoc Gold Award Girl Scout Alexandra Higbee received a $5K national scholarship on June 14 at American Family Field for her Mini Food Pantry project that offers 24/7 food access at Okauchee Lions Park. Higbee, who studies nursing at Valparaiso University and developed the project to help tackle food insecurity, said the award will ease her college costs — she began planning the project in summer 2023 with strong local support — and shape her future in healthcare. - ➤ The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that state regulators can require landowners to clean up PFAS contamination before these chemicals are officially deemed hazardous. - ➤ The Waukesha County Public Works Committee meets tonight at 7 p.m. at the Waukesha County Courthouse (Rm 2-1200, 515 W. Moreland Blvd) to recommend ending transit routes 904 and 905 due to low ridership.
