  • Residents in Big Bend are frustrated by a 2-mile section of Highway 164 that remains closed and disrupts local travel—DOT says the road is scheduled to reopen on July 18 while police warn drivers to obey closure signs.  TMJ-4
  • Four UScellular stores in southeast Wisconsin, one in Waukesha, will give away nearly 4,000 free Wisconsin State Fair tickets tomorrow to mark 20 years of partnership with the fair. The first people in line at each store can sample a limited-edition Celebration Strawberry Cream Puff and enter to win a Fair Fun Pack (with tickets, rides and a chance at a $10,000 prize).  FOX6

CRIME NEWS

  • Timothy Hoeller, accused of making terrorist threats against Carroll University in Waukesha, has his three-day trial set to start Oct. 21 while he remains free on a $1,000 bond and had his case twice paused for mental health treatment—he also rejected a plea deal offered this week.  FOX6
  • A 40-year-old man was stabbed in the back near a bike trail behind a business on West Sunset Drive Tuesday night after 11 p.m.—he was taken to the hospital and a female suspect from a nearby homeless encampment was arrested with a knife recovered at the scene.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Waukesha police said Tuesday night a stabbing occurred near the bike trail behind a local business on Sunset Drive and Oakdale Drive—40-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his back and was taken to the hospital while a woman was arrested and a knife believed to be used in the incident was recovered.  FOX6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arrowhead High School Board will discuss a plan to install license plate reader cameras at North and South Campus entrances and the Arrowhead Drive and Campus Drive intersection today, with a $9,000 cost added to the sheriff's contract. The board will also vote at 6:30 p.m. at Arrowhead High School District Office Boardroom (700 North Ave.) on directing changes to the cellphone policy.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Construction began on July 7 on the Hartling Road bridge over Bark River in Merton, which has closed the bridge and nearby Franchar Drive intersection with traffic detoured via Highways E and VV+The project involves a deck overlay, concrete repairs, approach paving and guardrail replacement and is expected to wrap up by mid-August+  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
