- ➤ MeatEater, an outdoor lifestyle shop for hunting, fishing, and camping, will open its first Wisconsin location early fall at The Corners of Brookfield (340 N. Lord St.) as part of a retail refresh. The 3,700 square-foot store will offer gear such as technical hunting apparel and fishing accessories and will partner with local conservation groups to serve outdoor enthusiasts. - ➤ Myxn Lakeside Beach Bar—formerly called Myxn Bar Boutique—moved to a new space at 145 W. Wisconsin Ave. on the Pewaukee beach strip and opened on May 1 with a full bar, kitchen menu and live music on weekends; owner Tim Steidl said the bar now offers popular dishes such as roast beef French dip and a shaved prime rib sandwich on Saturdays. - ➤ Former Pewaukee teacher and bus driver Thomas Felser, 62, now faces 11 felony charges — including first-degree child sexual assault, repeated sexual assault of a child, and sexual misconduct by school staff — after being accused of abusing a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old on his school bus earlier this year, as prosecutors filed amended charges on July 10th. - ➤ Families in Waukesha attended a school board meeting on Wednesday night to challenge the district’s enrollment numbers and express worry about proposals that include closing schools, redistricting, and losing special programs—such as dual language classes and school bands. - ➤ Waukesha School District Superintendent James Sebert said he is open to changing the district's restructuring plans—such as closing schools and adjusting grades—after parents raised concerns at a July 9 meeting about declining enrollments and cuts in programs like dual language. - ➤ Norm Bruce, owner of Martha Merrell’s Books, filed an appeal by email after the City of Waukesha’s Street Uses Panel unanimously revoked the bookstore’s street closure permit during Friday Night Live—he questioned why a closed session on April 25 was not listed and the appeal will be reviewed by the Administrative Review Board in the next few weeks.
