  • The Waukesha County Fairgrounds buzz with activity as the county fair rings in its 183rd year with sizzling funnel cakes and lively livestock sounds — drawing local families to enjoy classic fair attractions.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Today the 183rd annual Waukesha County Fair opens and runs through July 20, offering rides, animal races, free thrill shows with stunt riders and live music from acts like Justin Moore, Ted Nugent and Night Ranger. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Oconomowoc police said that on July 14 at 12:56 p.m. a black Volvo ZC90 hit a small tractor at Orchard Circle and Allen Road in the Orchards neighborhood, seriously injuring the tractor driver before fleeing toward Concord Road—and they are asking anyone with surveillance video to call the Waukesha Communications Center.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Waukesha Fire Department responded on July 14 to a fire on Riverview Drive that damaged a garage and caused limited smoke and water damage to the home—an investigation into the cause is ongoing and one firefighter was medically evaluated and released.  FOX6

CRIME NEWS

  • Oconomowoc police are investigating a hit-and-run that seriously injured a tractor operator on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Allen Road and Orchard Circle — the dark SUV was last seen on Concord Road near Allen Road and residents with doorbell camera footage are asked to call Waukesha County Communications at 262-446-5070.  FOX6
  • A Waukesha man pleaded guilty Friday to stalking his ex-wife by shooting her car, vandalizing it with salmon and fish juice, and dumping a blue slushie on her property — his sentencing is set for July 30 while his girlfriend, charged in the case, awaits a hearing in September.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mukwonago Area School District is considering a name change for Park View Middle School as part of its renovation project that moves the veterans’ memorial to the school grounds and asks community input via a survey. The plan calls for a three-story expansion with new drive lanes — and the project is funded by an $89.1 million referendum to update a building originally built in 1956.  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Public libraries across Wisconsin are asking patrons to send postcards to their U.S. Senators and Representatives so federal funding can continue—librarians warn that cuts may hurt shared programs like Inter-Library Loans. The postcard campaign runs through July 25.  FOX6
  • The Wisconsin Department of Transportation proposed to rebuild the Highway F overpass on I-94 in Waukesha County into a diverging diamond interchange to improve traffic safety and flow, with construction set for early 2028 and detours planned+a public meeting will be held on Aug. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building for residents to review the design and offer input.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
