  • Joseph Mensah, a Waukesha County sheriff's detective and former Wauwatosa officer involved in an ongoing civil lawsuit, resigned from the law enforcement profession effective July 31—he said this move would benefit his family, his well-being, and the department.  FOX6
  • Former Wauwatosa police officer Joseph Mensah, who fatally shot three individuals in separate incidents, resigned from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department effective July 31—he cited his family and personal well-being, and a civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force is set to be retried on Sept. 8.  TMJ-4
  • Police arrested Matthew L. Brennecke on Thursday evening for his connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash on Monday in Oconomowoc — video evidence and scene clues linked him to the incident that injured 87-year-old Allan Eighmy, who later died at the hospital.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Samuel D’Amico, a former candidate for the Waukesha School Board, claimed he would graduate in June but the school district confirmed he did not complete his studies; he appeared on a podcast as a graduate—official records show he remains a student needing an updated plan.  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mukwonago Village Board rejected a proposal to expand the Maple Centre development from 674 to 770 residential units near Maple Avenue and East Wolf Run due to concerns over traffic and the loss of the village's small-town feel—developers had planned to convert four three-story buildings to four-story ones to add 96 units. The board also denied changes to the General Development Plan and Developer Guaranty Agreement.  The Waukesha Freeman
