CRIME NEWS

  • Waukesha man Christopher Hauschultz, 24, was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison by Judge K. Scott Wagner after he fled police following treatment at a local hospital on May 6—he resisted arrest near a residence when a local resident confronted him with a butcher knife.  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in New Berlin could soon pay up to $40 more per year for registration—if the Common Council approves a new municipal wheel tax to help cover a $3.7 million budget gap. The fee would affect about 34,000 vehicles and may take effect on January 1, 2026 if the ordinance is adopted later this year.  TMJ-4
  • Delafield City Council met Monday to consider ending its contract with Lake Country Fire & Rescue as the city, which is third-largest by population, handled 43% of calls (a cost concern for the community). City Administrator Tom Hafner said the city asked Western Lakes Fire District for a proposal on Tuesday night and expects a cost estimate by September (possibly leading to a new service option).  FOX6
