ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash near Grandview Boulevard and Madison Street on Thursday afternoon knocked out power and sent a young woman to the hospital for an exam+ the vehicle struck a utility pole at around 1 p.m. and the outage spread to Moreland Boulevard.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Merton Fire Department went to a house fire on Highway E at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday after a homeowner said her home was full of smoke and her daughter was inside; officials found only light smoke coming from a vent after a delay from a closed bridge, law enforcement later confirmed the child was at summer school, and one person was taken to a hospital (several fire crews helped) while investigators look into the cause.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Chandelier Lounge inside historic Mon Bijou—formerly The Inn at Pine Terrace—opened last weekend in Oconomowoc as a cocktail spot where owners Joe and Kathryn Brisk invite more guests to enjoy the mansion’s history. The lounge serves a signature drink called The Mark Twain along with other classic cocktails during current hours of 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, though it will remain closed this Saturday for a wedding.  The Waukesha Freeman

CRIME NEWS

  • A dangerous TikTok trend called Door Kick Challenge has sparked police investigations in Waukesha County after residents in Hartland, Elm Grove, and Sussex reported door damage and loud bangs—Hartland resident Sandy Fleury said she woke up extremely scared after hearing the impact between midnight and 12:30 a.m. with no arrests made so far.  TMJ-4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Summit Village officials met with Oconomowoc Mayor Bob Magnus and City Administrator Mark Frye to review projects including transferring part of Oconomowoc Parkway to allow easier access for a planned Costco near Pabst Farms—this change is expected to simplify road maintenance and police response, with a vote planned for August.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • At Tuesday night's Delafield Town Board meeting, Town Chairman Edward Kranick said the board discussed a proposal from Western Lakes Fire District to expand fire and rescue services—he thanked Lake Country Fire & Rescue for their service—and he previewed plans for a future referendum to fund a full staffing plan.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • The City of Pewaukee Plan Commission reviewed plans for a 283-unit apartment project on the old Willow Run Golf Course property at N12-W26506 Golf Road during its meeting on July 17. Commissioners asked about road safety, the gated entry, and the trash compactor — they conditionally approved the site plan and will work with the developer to fix these issues — with a review of the single-family section set for Aug. 21.  The Waukesha Freeman
