Lake Country Caring marked 35 years of volunteer service by giving free essential items to more than 350 local clients each month across four counties.

The nonprofit operates out of a remodeled building at 603 Progress Drive (Hartland) and depends on over 200 volunteers (who logged over 19,000 hours last year) to keep its services running.

A 25-year-old man in Waukesha pleaded no contest to first-degree intentional homicide after shooting his 74-year-old grandmother when she discovered a gun in his bedroom—he will be sentenced on July 29.

Formerly homeless Waukesha man Adam Malinski, 48, who stabbed a man downtown last August and later spat at a correctional officer during a jail incident, pleaded no contest and received an eight-year prison sentence—crediting 333 days already served—while also facing strict conditions such as maintaining sobriety and no contact with the victims.

A Hartland veteran said his home was targeted by teenagers in a dangerous TikTok door kick challenge just after midnight—he grabbed his gun as he saw them approaching, and law enforcement has reported similar incidents across Waukesha County.

A court ruled that Daniel Tarpey, who sold windows and installation for Abby Windows in Brookfield, is not eligible for unemployment compensation because state law excludes direct sellers of consumer products — his window sales included installation services.

The District II Court of Appeals said the decision will serve as a precedent in similar future cases.
