EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Elmbrook School District is looking at new times that would have elementary classes start earlier and middle and high school classes begin later to help students sleep better and ease childcare needs (the plan also combines middle and high school bus routes, which may raise transportation costs) and the board will decide by October or November for the 2026-27 school year. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elm Grove officials are exploring a wheel tax to fund infrastructure costs—this plan, which would not require a referendum if adopted, comes after New Berlin discussed a similar option. Local residents are giving mixed responses as county leaders review alternatives for rising costs. TMJ-4
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is considering a site near I-94 and County F for Waukesha County’s first diverging diamond interchange and a local business owner is voicing concerns about the plan—DOT will review community feedback as it moves ahead with the project. FOX6
- ➤ Residents voiced concern when the Village Board discussed moving the baseball field at Hartbrook Park for a new police station and Village Hall during its July 14 meeting—neighbors said there was little public communication and a loss of green space. Officials explained the park was chosen for its central location—project costs are estimated at $24.5 million—$29.5 million—and further public sessions will be held to review the plan. TMJ-4
