- ➤ In Brookfield—Alicia Carella of Roman Electric and Tony Ramos of Plumbers Local 75 were named the 2025 recipients of the Erickson Strong Scholarship. They will attend the Lean Construction Institute Congress in Arlington, Texas from Oct. 20-24 and applications for the 2026 award are now accepted, honoring Mark Erickson’s legacy in Wisconsin’s construction industry. - ➤ Brookfield police said a stolen credit card from Lifetime Fitness was used on July 12 to fraudulently spend over $18,000 on liquor, with one purchase at Liquor Guys in Wauwatosa (around noon, $8,650.29) and another at Total Wine & More in Brookfield (around 1:55 p.m., $9,721.49) by two white males described in their 50s to 60s, prompting an ongoing investigation. - ➤ Amy Zimmerman, a program manager and co-owner of Brown Dog Gadgets, announced her candidacy for the 13th Assembly District covering Elm Grove, Brookfield, and Wauwatosa— a seat open after Rep. Robyn Vining decided to run for state Senate. Zimmerman, who serves on Brookfield’s Parks and Recreation Commission and helped lead the Wirth Park Tot Lot project, said she will focus on special education funding, expanding Medicaid, reinstating Child Care Counts, and supporting small businesses.
