ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 16 near I-94 in Pewaukee blocked traffic on Aug. 1 at 8:09 a.m. and injured 10 people (four taken to hospitals, six treated and released).  CBS58

CRIME NEWS

  • The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office said a missing 2-year-old named Isaac Reddington was found safe with his mother—who reportedly had a manic episode—after he was last seen Saturday afternoon in Genesee wearing navy blue shorts, a striped shirt, and Velcro shoes.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Waukesha Student Services Committee will hear a transportation update on Tuesday from Ryan Patt of Student Services and Joni Sablich of First Student as they report that all bus routes are covered and driver recruitment efforts continue. The district is also reviewing four consolidation options that could close up to four schools including Bethesda Elementary—changes that may reduce its building footprint by 10% to 15%.  The Waukesha Freeman

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Melissa Scheuerman, a DNR forestry technician who spent 14 days fighting wildfires in Manitoba, said her team aimed to steer the flames away from small towns while six crew members continued suppression efforts as smoke reduced local air quality. Lawmakers have called on Canadian officials to improve forest management—experts link the earlier fire season and lack of snow to the worsening wildfire conditions affecting our region.  CBS58

  • On Saturday morning, dozens of motorcycle riders raised funds for the sheriff's K-9 unit by riding and participating in raffle activities — the event celebrated the unit's 25th anniversary and will help cover the cost of a new dog joining this fall.  FOX6

  • On Saturday, Wisconsin Community Services hosted its Recovery Prom at Waukesha Elks Lodge 400 where community members in recovery gathered to share their stories and support each other. The event served as a fundraiser for peer support programs—organizers said the night helped reduce the stigma of addiction.  FOX6
