CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Oconomowoc — The bail modification for Matthew L. Brennecke, accused of fatally striking 87-year-old Allan Eighmy with his car on July 14 near Allen Road and Orchard Circle and then fleeing the scene, was denied Tuesday. Brennecke was taken into custody a few days later and was scheduled for a preliminary hearing that morning in Waukesha County Circuit Court. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Waukesha Police issued a Silver Alert for missing 69-year-old Michael Taylor, who was last seen near Sunset and Oakdale on Aug. 6 at 3 p.m.—he is described as Black, 5’11 with brown eyes, bald with a gray goatee and a missing tip on his left middle finger, and anyone with information is urged to contact police. - ➤ New Berlin police reported nine car break-ins in the northeast between 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. after an unlocked vehicle was targeted for cash and personal items—residents are urged to lock their cars and remove valuables. TMJ-4

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Tuesday’s Celebrate Waukesha breakfast, Superintendent Jim Sebert said the district is analyzing four consolidation options—possible closings, grade reconfigurations, redistricting and changes to the Dual Language program—for a system that dropped from over 13,000 students at its peak to about 10,500 today, with final recommendations expected by December for the 2026/27 school year. - ➤ The Elmbrook School District is thinking about changing school start and end times for nearly 8,000 students by moving elementary start times to 7:40 a.m. and ending the day earlier while shifting middle and high school times—60% of committee members support the plan—.
