Families in Hartland will gather today at the McGuire Foundation’s free back to school carnival at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—the event will help 500 children in Waukesha County get backpacks filled with supplies such as socks, underwear, books, tutoring, and haircuts while offering activities like bounce houses, face painting, snow cones, music, and a touch-a-truck display.

A Muskego volunteer leader, Jessie Hieb, has turned Pop's Pub into a hub for flood cleanup that has helped over a dozen homes recover from water damage.

Volunteers will continue working this weekend—at W180S7808 Pioneer Dr—while community members are invited to join the relief effort.

Erik Nelson, 47, from North Carolina pleaded guilty in Waukesha County Circuit Court after he used a device to defraud gambling machines at three Muskego establishments and was sentenced to 15 months in prison plus 24 months of extended supervision, and he faces pending theft and computer crime charges in Kenosha with a co-defendant still at large.

The city of Waukesha announced there will be no fee for flood-related debris including branches and yard waste today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Drop Center on Sentry Drive — residents must show valid ID or a dated piece of mail to prove local residency — to qualify for the service.
