- ➤ A Muskego woman fighting breast cancer lost nearly all her belongings when floodwaters destroyed her home last Saturday and rescue crews evacuated her and her dog (Sasha). Neighbors helped clear debris, but insurance will likely not cover the extensive damage. TMJ-4
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Work will begin Monday on a section of the frontage road alongside Highway 16 in Oconomowoc for a $1.5 million bridge replacement and resurfacing project—this plan includes reconstructing the bridge over the Oconomowoc River, adding new guardrail and signage, and maintaining local access with a signed detour, with completion expected by late 2025 subject to weather conditions. - ➤ The Pewaukee Village Board will consider a new ordinance Tuesday to ban bullying and cyberbullying and give police faster tools to intervene—proposals include fines for repeat offenses and hold parents accountable when the offender is under 18. - ➤ The Common Council will review on Tuesday the proposed 2025 budget for the Waukesha Parade Memorial — totaling $87,500 for site improvements including a $30,000 security camera, $7,500 for water access, and $50,000 for an irrigation system — with reimbursements provided through the Parade Memorial Fund managed by the Waukesha County Community Foundation. It will also consider a contract with Waukesha County to use the closed UWM at Waukesha buildings for police and fire training from September through November. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ More than 30 Hartland residents gathered at Village Hall Wednesday night to press village officials for details on a planned public safety facility and its environmental impact. Officials said they reviewed several sites—such as the former Hartbrook Lanes property—and will choose a location within six months while aiming to finalize plans by year’s end and begin construction next spring.
