COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After recent flooding wiped out its rescue space, Doodle’s Ranch and Sanctuary is rebuilding while caring for 31 cats housed across the founder’s home — two cats died in the flood and the facility lost all supplies, prompting a GoFundMe and calls for donations. The rescue plans to restore its services and continue saving cats that would otherwise face euthanasia.  TMJ-4

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Delafield city officials are reviewing a site plan submitted by Nagawaukee MZL LLC and applicant Tom Vavra for a dual-brand Applebee’s—Ihop restaurant at 3100 Golf Road, a former Applebee’s location. The plan includes renovations and new signage—further business details and an opening date are still to be provided.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

CRIME NEWS

  • The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of rising car break-ins in Sussex, Merton and nearby areas—22 vehicles were targeted between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.—as thieves looked for unlocked cars or those with keys inside.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • A Waukesha teen charged with killing his mother and stepfather appeared in court on Aug. 18—he pleaded not guilty and now faces a new witness intimidation charge after a classmate reported he sent disturbing Snapchat messages.  FOX6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County officials have heard unconfirmed reports that FEMA is expected to arrive later this week to survey flood damage in southeast Wisconsin. The survey will help guide federal disaster aid—possibly leading to a major disaster declaration once the damage is fully assessed.  FOX6
  • As of Monday, Waukesha County’s 211 hotline received 1,828 reports of property damage estimated at $63.7 million—local governments have reported an additional $4.4 million in flood-related expenses. Officials are sending door-to-door teams and Gov. Tony Evers has requested FEMA assistance—while Highway DR near Delafield remains closed until inspections confirm safety.  The Waukesha Freeman
