COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Aug. 15, the Waukesha Citizens Police Academy Association, Inc. hosted its 11th annual Run with the Cops 5K — the venue was changed because of standing water and more than 200 locals ran the course.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Bryan and Susan Gorski returned home from vacation to find their Muskego house flooded with more than three feet of water and sewage—neighbors and volunteers worked hard to clear the damage as the couple expressed deep gratitude for the support. They said they plan to pay the kindness forward.  TMJ-4

  • A Brookfield woman was charged after making gun comments that officers deemed threatening—she was arrested last week for a related incident.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Edcetera—backed by Eden Capital—bought Pulse Radiology Institute in Waukesha to combine online classes with real clinical training for an associate degree in MRI. The deal creates a complete pathway for students and sets up plans to start an RN to BSN program in 2026.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Lake Country School District reported 447 students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year — a drop of 16 students from last year.  Waukesha Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brookfield will review an ordinance next month that would ban unmanned cannabis vending machines like the Ethereal Gold Dispensary kiosk at Brookfield Square—Ald. Mike Hallquist said the measure aims to stop sales to minors by limiting Delta-9 THC transactions to brick-and-mortar stores.  FOX6

SPORTS NEWS

  • A family from Oconomowoc filed a lawsuit in Waukesha County Circuit Court after the WIAA denied a waiver that would let their son Tristen play varsity football at Arrowhead High School following their home’s loss to a fire; the suit claims a false transfer form hurt his eligibility and asks a judge to reverse the decision to protect his scholarship at the University of Sioux Falls starting Fall 2026.  The Waukesha Freeman
