A nonprofit shop in Waukesha (Scraps and Sparks) is upcycling donated art supplies into affordable treasures for local crafters.
Retired teacher Teresa Heier and teacher Justin Belot launched the craft store on July 16 and accept donations Tuesday through Saturday.
Local groups will honor military members from Waukesha County who died during the Vietnam War (National Archives records) as remembrances continue until Aug.

A solar energy company plans to install roughly 13,000 panels on 28 acres in Mukwonago to generate 6 megawatts for about 1,600 homes, with a public hearing scheduled for Oct.
7 at Mukwonago Town Hall. Residents remain concerned about noise and property values (no lithium battery units are planned).

County officials announced that Highway E in Merton remains closed for emergency repairs after a culvert failure; construction began Aug.
24 and is set to finish on Sept. 14 with detours via Highways VV, 83 and Q.

The Lake Country DockHounds reached the postseason for the third straight year after winning on Monday night with a (Steamboat Willie Night) theme in Oconomowoc; they have drawn nearly 1,900 fans per game and are using themed events to boost attendance further.
