Basse’s Farms will host the Apple & Sunflower Fest on Saturday, Aug.
29, despite an Aug. 18 EF-0 tornado that caused minor damage to trees and crops. The farm says everyone is safe and it will still feature a refreshing sunflower maze for visitors.
The Glacial Community YMCA in Oconomowoc has raised over $8.6 million and needs $1.5 million more to fund planned upgrades like a new multiuse airnasium and modern exercise areas.
Construction will begin next spring.

Waukesha Civic Theatre will soon begin its 70th season (directors say one play may challenge suburban views) as the venue prepares a diverse lineup for local audiences.
🎓 Education
WOW Works received part of a $5 million U.S. Department of Labor RESTART Grant to launch BRIDGE-WI, a program expanding career paths for justice-involved youths and young adults.
The initiative offers training, apprenticeships and job placement for about 220 participants (Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties).

On Aug. 25, Wauwatosa East boys soccer won 3-1 over Waukesha West in a tight match (video highlights showed the key plays).
