CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Waukesha police charged Darrell Keller with theft after video showed him taking money from donation boxes at St. John Vianney Church last winter—he is set to appear in court Sept. 18 and faces up to nine months in jail if convicted. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ 23-year-old Francisco Olmedo Arenas pleaded guilty to fleeing police in a 2.5-mile chase in Menomonee Falls — where speeds reached 111 mph — and he was sentenced to one year in prison with two years of extended supervision. FOX6

- ➤ Today, parents and community members offered detailed proposals to the Waukesha School District as it reviews its Optimizing Our Future plan that may lead to school closures, grade reconfigurations, redistricting and changes to the Dual Language program (the current workshop does not allow public speaking). - ➤ Waukesha County released a 73-page capital plan that outlines future projects such as major repairs on Moorland Road in 2027 and 2029 and courthouse renovations scheduled for 2027. The plan also will upgrade the county voting system in 2029, rebuild highways and update an airport building—efforts that include cost-sharing with local municipalities—designed to enhance public services.
