  • Alice Worske, a Muskego woman battling breast cancer, reunited today with firefighter Trevor Pickart—who rescued her and her dog Sasha from floodwaters three weeks ago—after she reached out to a reporter with a blurry photo for help.  TMJ-4
  • After the holiday weekend, volunteers at Friends With Food found their walk-in cooler had failed and spoiled 50 gallons of milk plus fresh produce as temperatures reached 60 degrees. The nonprofit, which served 1,400 families in August, now seeks community donations to cover the $5,000 repair and restock its shelves—helping keep food available for those in need.  FOX6

CRIME NEWS

  • A Wauwatosa man, 31-year-old Mathew Yang, was charged with stealing over $1 million in tools from Milwaukee Tool after a shipping company’s inquiry about a 9,000-pound delivery to a residential address led to an investigation and he posted a $50,000 bond ahead of his preliminary hearing on Sept. 8.  FOX6
  • A man was stabbed in the stomach at 5:25 p.m. Monday outside Hope Center on Broadway—police detained a 43-year-old suspect after an argument while waiting for dinner escalated into a fight, and both individuals were banned from the center.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • A 44 year old man from Eau Claire was arrested Tuesday night in Waukesha for driving 89 mph in a 70 mph zone and showing signs of impairment, marking his fourth operating while intoxicated offense—he underwent a legal blood draw and was booked into Jefferson County Jail.  FOX6

  • The Waukesha County Museum will host its September Lunch and Learn session Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. with Rick Edwards IV discussing Oneota village archaeology near Lake Koshkonong—tickets cost $28 for nonmembers, $25 for members or $10 for the program only.  The Waukesha Freeman

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Waukesha County Business Alliance has formed a coalition of more than 20 groups to support expanding I-94 West. Yesterday, local lawmakers, business leaders, and Alliance representatives submitted a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation urging improvements—citing better traffic flow and boosted commerce.  Waukesha Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Waukesha School District's enrollment fell to 10,922 students for the 2024-25 school year—3.5% lower than last year as reported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.  Waukesha Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Nearly a month after historic flooding, piles of ripped carpeting and destroyed belongings fill Menomonee Falls subdivisions as residents wait for village cleanup crews to remove the debris; village crews can only work when the Orchard Ridge Landfill is open — officials expect the cleanup to be largely complete by the end of next week.  TMJ-4

  • The reconstructed Lac La Belle boat launch in Oconomowoc won the Outstanding Project Award from the States Organization for Boating Access.
