BUSINESS NEWS

  • Business leaders from the Waukesha County Business Alliance urged the state to study widening I-94 from County Highway SS to the Jefferson County line due to frequent crashes and heavy congestion. The group said the improvement is needed to boost safety and support local economic growth — as new developments and major projects add pressure to the busy corridor.  TMJ-4
  • The Waukesha Business Alliance supports a recent decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to stay the EPA reclassification of southeastern Wisconsin counties as Serious nonattainment areas under the 2015 ozone standard & says that enforcing stricter rules would have raised local business costs. Amanda Payne, the Alliance's President and CEO, said they will work with regional partners to promote fair, science-based environmental regulations.  Waukesha Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Sealed documents filed on Sept. 8 outline a conditional release plan for Morgan Geyser— a 22-year-old involved in the Slender Man case— from a state mental health facility, though the details remain secret as authorities work to confirm a suitable group home.  FOX6
  • Waukesha man Kevin Lychwick, 63, is accused of killing neighbor Carlos Maldonado whose body was found behind their apartment building six months after he was shot in April 2024—his trial will run for five days in early February 2026 due to a change in his defense team.  Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Jeffrey Ostby, a 54-year-old Milwaukee man, was charged Friday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with theft and using another's ID after he allegedly stole money from a Brookfield firm and lost funds at a Milwaukee casino - he faces up to 34 years in prison if convicted.  The Waukesha Freeman

CULTURE NEWS

  • The final Tribute Tuesday concert happens tonight at 7 p.m. at the Les Paul Performance Center in Cutler Park—The Crown Jewels will perform a high-energy tribute to Queen with free entry and concessions starting at 5:30 p.m.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Waukesha parents are pushing back on two new school consolidation options added to the School District of Waukesha’s 'Optimizing Our Future' plan & are asking for more meetings to share their views before changes are made.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Waukesha County’s Multi-Agency Resource Center will host a Flood Recovery Forum from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Expo Center Forum Building—where several agencies will offer disaster case management, public health resources and counseling to residents impacted by summer floods.  The Waukesha Freeman
