- ➤ High school students in Wisconsin are invited to submit their homecoming photos this fall for an online gallery on JSOnline and USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin websites. The online portal accepts photos from dances, football games, or other spirit events — last year's homecoming gallery featured 111 submissions. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- ➤ The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named 61 Waukesha County high school students as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists on Sept. 10—recognizing academic achievements among over 16,000 winners nationwide. Final winners will be announced in spring. Waukesha Times

- ➤ Congressman Scott Fitzgerald’s Bank Competition Modernization Act passed the House Financial Services Committee today; the bill sets a $10 billion asset threshold so banks below that level will get safe harbor from lengthy Department of Justice reviews—supporters say this change will boost growth for small banks—with further steps pending. - ➤ Rep. Scott Fitzgerald announced he launched an investigation into Vision Benefit Managers for possible anticompetitive practices on September 15 — he also said on September 16 that housing affordability remains a major challenge for families. Waukesha Times
- ➤ Today, the Wisconsin State Patrol hosts an open house at its Southeast Region headquarters — 21115 E. Moreland Blvd. in Waukesha— where families, community members and future law enforcement candidates can view troopers at work and explore specialty equipment and vehicles. Staff will also discuss job openings and recruitment for the 73rd Recruit Class in January while visitors experience an interactive display including a Flight for Life aerial visit. - ➤ A state Senate committee heard a bill Tuesday that would remove the $130 fee for 18-year-old high school students to form an LLC+ the proposal, introduced by Senator Rob Hutton from Brookfield, has bipartisan support and would extend benefits currently offered only to college students.
