- ➤ Waukesha’s 9th annual Oktoberfest is taking place today at Frame Park with food vendors, live music and contests including a cornhole tournament and a stein-holding competition—free shuttles ease parking and a drone show lights the sky each evening. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ Waukesha South High School will host Southfest and Marchfest on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27 & the weekend will feature live music, food, and family activities. Organizers say the events will boost local community spirit & provide neighbors a chance to gather. The Waukesha Freeman

- ➤ Oscar's Frozen Custard broke ground—Sept. 18—at its old site in Waukesha after a fire damaged the restaurant, and it will eventually rebuild and restore the business. FOX6
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Waukesha Public Library holds a special reception at 321 Wisconsin Ave. from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.—celebrating 20 years of public art with a mayoral proclamation at 3:15 p.m., refreshments, and the unveiling of four new pieces with local artists in attendance. Committee members will lead guided tours of the library’s art collection on Nov. 8. The Waukesha Freeman
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow—along with local officials—announced that FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers will open on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Butler, Brookfield, and Muskego to help residents with uninsured losses from recent storms and flooding. The centers will operate until Oct. 30 and assist with applying for federal aid and connecting with resource agencies. FOX6
- ➤ The IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by August flooding in Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties, giving them until Feb. 2 to file returns and pay taxes. Affected taxpayers should call the IRS if they receive a penalty notice for late filing or payment. The Waukesha Freeman
