- ➤ Tonight at 6 p.m., the Pewaukee Plan Commission will discuss proposals for a service center by Christian Brothers Automotive, a car wash by Bubbles Foam Farm, and a bank concept by Johnson Financial Group at Village Hall (235 Hickory St.). - ➤ Oconomowoc officials approved a site plan for a planned Caribou Coffee restaurant in Olympia Fields on the 1400 block of Olympia Fields Drive — some building details are still pending before permits are issued. - ➤ At Travieso Latin Fusion in downtown Waukesha, chefs Arnie Gonzales and Dillon Knight turned a dishwashing job into a passion for cooking by creating elevated Latin fusion that uses family recipes and familiar flavors. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A record 1,500 middle and high school students attended the 2025 Experience the Trades Expo at the Waukesha County Expo Center—where 40 local employers offered interactive lessons on manufacturing and construction careers—while organizers credited strong business and educator collaboration for the record turnout. - ➤ On Oct. 2, Catholic Memorial High School announced a $125,000 donation from Stephen and Dr. Shelagh Roell that enabled the purchase of a 3-D digital anatomy table from Anatomage—it will be used to enhance science classes for future healthcare providers. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- ➤ District officials presented three proposals on Oct. 8 to address a drop from more than 13,000 students in 2012 to about 10,500 now. - ➤ Waukesha Common Council approved a $160 annual garbage and recycling fee on Tuesday after weeks of debate and divided public input. The fee will charge households for waste services and is meant to support the city’s waste management programs. The Waukesha Freeman
- ➤ After a federal judge dismissed a free speech lawsuit by fired teacher Melissa Tempel, Milwaukee alderman Scott Spiker said he will propose a law to protect city workers' right to speak freely—he warned that the ruling could hurt those who call attention to government issues. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has suspended all poultry shows, exhibitions, swap meets and the movement of poultry in Jefferson, Waukesha, Walworth and Rock counties through Dec. 31 to help prevent bird flu from spreading. Poultry owners are urged to keep flocks indoors and follow strict biosecurity measures. FOX6
