  • Sentry Equipment in Oconomowoc celebrated 100 years on October 16th. The employee-owned firm now faces challenges from fewer workers and new tariffs that hurt exports—28% of its products are sold abroad—while it has long served the community.  FOX6

CRIME NEWS

  • Two schools in Wales were placed on hold Wednesday as officers searched for a wanted subject after receiving a call from Racine County at about 2:30 p.m. (authorities confirmed the subject was not in the area) and the hold was lifted once the area was cleared (the sheriff’s department said the measure was taken out of caution).  The Waukesha Freeman

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Waukesha County Museum will host a Lunch and Learn on Nov. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at 101 W. Main St. to discuss the role of the 4th Regiment Company A in the Spanish-American War—featuring photographs, letters, and records that show how local soldiers experienced national history.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Horizon Elementary students gathered today to hear Derek Watt — a former NFL fullback and Pewaukee alum — speak about sportsmanship, teamwork, and kindness. The Pewaukee School District thanked him for sharing his experiences and giving back to the community.  The Waukesha Freeman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Waukesha officials have proposed a new vicious dog ordinance that will fine owners up to $2,500 for a first offense and $5,000 for a repeat incident involving bites or attacks—dog owners at Minooka Park shared mixed opinions as the council plans to discuss the measure on October 21.  TMJ-4
  • A local homeowner whose basement flooded with about 10 inches of water is now worried about rebuilding after a heavy rain showed his village storm drain is draining slowly. He reached out to county and village officials for answers, and they said the drain was checked while they review the design and potential tree root blockages — officials are still researching the cause.  TMJ-4
